CrewTalk ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the CrewTalk application and related services.
Information We Collect
Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and optionally a profile avatar. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile photo from Google.
Usage Data: We collect information about how you use the app, including hub membership, channel activity, and presence status (online, away, offline).
Audio & Media: Push-to-talk audio is transmitted in real time through our relay server and is not recorded or stored. Images shared in messages are relayed to recipients and are not stored on our servers.
Device Information: We may collect device type, operating system version, and app version for diagnostics and compatibility purposes.
How We Use Information
- Provide, maintain, and improve the CrewTalk service
- Authenticate your identity and manage your account
- Facilitate real-time communication between hub members
- Send service-related notifications (e.g., email verification)
- Monitor and analyze usage trends to improve the product
- Enforce our Terms of Service and protect against misuse
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:
- Service Providers: We use Firebase (Google) for authentication, database, and storage services. These providers process data on our behalf under strict contractual obligations.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to a valid legal process.
- Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user data may be transferred as part of the transaction.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information. All network communication uses TLS/SSL encryption. Authentication tokens are stored in platform-specific secure storage (Keychain on iOS, Keystore on Android). However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights
You may update or delete your account at any time from the Settings screen in the app. Deleting your account removes your user profile and hub memberships. Locally stored messages on your device are cleared when you uninstall the app.
