Member Management

Managing your team effectively is essential for smooth production communication. CrewTalk gives admins and owners the tools to organize their crew through role management and member operations.

Viewing Members

The Members Drawer on the PTT screen shows all hub members grouped by status:

Each member shows:

  • Display name and avatar
  • Current channel (if transmitting)
  • Quick-action icons (message, call, video)

Admin Actions

Admins and owners can perform these actions through the Member Action Sheet (tap a member's name):

Promote to Admin

Gives a member admin privileges. Admins can manage channels, invites, and other members.

Demote to Member

Removes admin privileges from an admin. They retain their hub membership.

Remove from Hub

Removes the member entirely from the hub:

  1. Tap the member's name to open the action sheet
  2. Scroll to the Management section
  3. Tap Remove from Hub
  4. Confirm in the dialog

The member is immediately disconnected and removed from the roster.

⚠️ Removal is Immediate

Removing a member disconnects them immediately from both PTT audio and messaging. If they're mid-transmission, their audio will cut off. Use this thoughtfully.

Web Portal

For managing larger teams, the CrewTalk Web Portal offers a desktop-friendly interface:

  • View all members in a table format
  • Sort by name, role, or join date
  • Promote/demote/remove with one click
  • Set channel restrictions
  • Manage multiple members efficiently
💡 Pre-Production Setup

Use the web portal to set up your team before the shoot day. Configure roles, channel restrictions, and verify everyone has joined. On shoot day, everything is ready to go.

Real-Time Updates

Member changes sync in real time:

  • Role changes appear instantly for all connected members
  • New members appear in the roster as soon as they join (no refresh needed)
  • Removed members disappear from the roster immediately
  • Channel restriction changes take effect on the member's next channel switch

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, if they have a valid invite code. Removing a member removes them from the hub but doesn't block them from using a new invite code to rejoin.
Messages are stored locally on each device. The removed member's messages remain visible to other members who received them. The removed member keeps their local copy.
The member's joined date is stored in their membership record and visible in the web portal's member management page.
